What to check before booking any Thailand tour

Seven things to verify on a listing before you pay: pickup zone, park fees, group size, cancellation, weather policy, voucher type and meeting point.

Most disappointment with a Thailand tour traces back to something that was on the listing and not read. The information is usually there — pickup zone, exclusions, cancellation window — buried under the photographs.

This is the checklist we apply to the products we list.

The checklist

Pickup zoneNamed areas only. Staying outside them means a fee or a taxi.
Park feesIncluded or not — check the inclusions, not the headline price.
Group sizeA number, not ‘small group’. Twenty-eight is not small.
CancellationThe window, and whether weather counts.
Meeting pointAn address you can find, not ‘the pier’.
VoucherMobile or paper — and whether your phone will have signal.
ConfirmationInstant means accepted, not guaranteed availability forever.

Questions

What does instant confirmation mean?

The operator accepts the booking automatically. It does not mean the departure cannot later be cancelled for weather or minimum numbers.

What if the listing is vague?

Ask before paying. A good operator answers specifically.
