Thailand national park fees: what they cost and who collects them

Park fees are frequently excluded from tour prices. What the fee covers, who pays what, and how to tell whether your tour already includes it.

Most island and temple tours in Thailand pass through a national park, and the entrance fee is often not in the tour price. It is collected at the park gate, in cash, usually per person.

Whether it is included is written in the inclusions of the product you buy — not in the headline price. On the tours we list, the ones that include fees say so explicitly.

Where it is chargedIsland groups, marine parks, and major historical parks such as Ayutthaya.
How to checkRead the inclusions list. If fees are not named, assume they are extra.

Questions

Are park fees included in the price I see?

Only if the inclusions say so. The Phi Phi product we list excludes the entrance fee; the Krabi four-islands product includes park fees.

Can I pay by card?

Assume cash. Some parks take cards, many do not.
