Thai Cooking Class in Bangkok: What ฿1,500 Buys

A Bangkok cooking class ranges from ฿900 to ฿3,500 for something that looks similar in photos. The difference is how many dishes you cook yourself, whether you shop for the ingredients, and how big the group is.
| Cheap class | Better class | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | ฿900–1,200 | ฿1,500–2,200 |
| Group | 10–20 people | 6–10 people |
| Market visit | Usually no | Included, with explanation |
| Dishes cooked | 4, demonstrated | 4–5, each one yours |
| Take-home | Recipe sheet | Recipe book and leftovers |
What a good half day looks like
Market first, then curry paste from scratch, then three or four dishes, then eating what you made. If the paste comes out of a tub and the wok is shared between four people, you are watching a demonstration, not taking a class.

Half day or full day?
Half day is enough for a first visit and leaves your afternoon free. Full day adds a second market, dessert and usually a fifth dish — worth it only if cooking is the reason for the trip.
Questions people ask
Can vegetarians do it?
Yes, most schools swap fish sauce and meat if you say so when booking.
Do I need experience?
None. The classes assume you have never made a curry paste.
Will I get the recipes?
Good schools send them by email afterwards.
